San Pedro Carnival 2011

The San Pedro Carnival is coming to town and will be held from March 18th to March 19, 2011.

The fun and events will start on Friday with the Gran Fiesta Infantil de Carnaval (The Big Kids Carnival Party) beginning at 5:00pm on Plaza del Mercado. There will be entertainers for the kids as well as a costume competition organized in three categories: individual, pairs and groups. This event is open to children aged 14 and under.

Registration for this competition can be completed on the day and place of the party one hour before the start. There will be a panel of judges voting on the most original and nice costume.

The carnival continues on Saturday March 19 with a Comedy Parade at 7:00pm starting at el Recinto Ferial (fairgrounds) and passing through calle Jorge Guillén, avenida Pablo Ruiz Picasso, calle San Miguel, avenida de la Constitución, calles Jerez, Marqués del Duero, Hernán Cortés and 19 de Octubre, avenida Oriental and calle Revilla, until it reaches avenida Pablo Ruiz Picasso, on the corner of calle Bahía.

The Gran Fiesta de Carnaval (Big Carnival Party) will take place on plaza del Mercado, with a traditional costume competition for the adults also consisting of three categories.

The carnival will have a closing ceremony called Burial of the Sardine at 11:00pm.
