A friend who we had not seen for over 2 years arrived in Marbella for week and asked to go to a typical Spanish fish restaurant. Thus started a most enjoyable lunch time on a very pleasant Spring day, at La Red, which is a very busy Chiringuito, along the Marbella Beach.
The menu is almost overwhelming with about 200 items to choose from their mainly fish and shellfish fair. There are sufficient Meat, Pasta, Paella, and Salad dishes, to keep you happy, as well as a well stocked bar, from which we chose the house white.
We shared a ‘La Red Salad’ and followed this with grilled Rosada (a much underrated fish) and Sardines, all were delicious. (see photo)
This is a bustling place, right on the beach, and was pretty much full, and although the service was a little slow, ‘Who’s in a hurry’ .
This a paper tablecloth and serviettes place, that serve good food, at reasonable prices, and we will certainly be coming back to try and work our way through the menu.
You will find La Red roughly in the middle of eight or so chiringuitos built under the Paseo Maritimo at beach level between the end of C/Gregorio Maranon and the end of Avenida (you cant miss it, every thing is coloured red).
It can seat over 200 diners average 3 course meal with wine 30€ They are open for lunch only in the winter months but from 1st May they will open from 9:30 in the morning to midnight. Bookings on 95282 1450 & 95286 8502
