UNFORTUNATELY PEGGOTTY'S NUEVA ANDAALUCIA CLOSED ITS DOORS. THE ESTEPONA RESTAURANT IS STILL OPEN.
Peggottys Marbella has some of the finest fish and chips on the Costa del Sol and is a very popular place amongst the English speaking public.
Peggottys Marbella has an excellent selection of fish and chips made with cod, haddock, plaice and whole-tail scampi as well as other family favorites such as burgers, roast chicken and baby back ribs. Take away service is available.

Mom's evaluation:I heard of Peggotty's from a friend of mine while watching our son's football training. It sounded like your typical English fish and chips place and I liked the idea of having a take away that evening as I wouldn't have much time to cook after the training. I popped into the Nueva Andalucia branch, which has since closed.
It smelled delicious as we walked in and everything seemed really nice and clean with a bubbling atmosphere of English clientele having a good time. We placed our take away order at the desk which is conveniently located at the front entrance. As I was waiting my mouth was drooling at the other selections on the menu such as the baby back ribs and roast chicken. The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. I was warned that that portions were big so I just made two orders of cod for our family of four. For some reason they threw in an extra one and told me that I'd received three for the price of two, which was a pleasant surprise! However, we could hardly finish that third one and so I do have to pass on the warning that the portions are huge. We couldn't even finish our second order of chips.
The price was reasonable (cod is 6.95 euro, chips 2.50 euro, burgers start at 4.30 euro, and half roast chicken is 6.50 euro) if you take away, however I heard that the menu is different if you sit in. Unfortunately, we had to let our order sit for an hour before we got to it, so it was left a bit soggy and not the freshest experience. But I could tell that it was good quality and the better thing to do is eat it as soon as you get home, or even better, sit at the restaurant and eat it there. I noticed that there were plenty of kids, high chairs, crayons and coloring paper so it seems to be a very child-friendly place and a nice family experience.
Since this last review we finally tried a meal at Peggotty's restaurant in Estepona instead of take-away and had a very nice experience. It was by far better than taking away.
We headed out to Peggottys Marbella in Nueva Andalucia, but to our surprise it was closed. Regardless of our surprise, we were determined to have the Peggotty's "in-house" experience and drove out to their restaurant in Estepona. The decor and atmosphere was identical to their Nueva Andalucia branch - typical English crowd (I couldn't find one foreigner in the crowd...other than ourselves!) with lots of laughter, friendly service and bustling feeling, which was a surprise for a Tuesday night!
The menu offers lots of comfort food like roast chicken, ribs and even homey side orders of mushy peas and coleslaw. It was definitely what I was in the mood for. I had to try their baby back ribs, which were a bit of a wait, but well worth it. I even got extra barbeque sauce on the side without asking for it. My son had a gigantic burger which he was very happy with.
We had to try a dessert so we opted for the chocolate cake. It reminded me a lot of the Betty Crocker cakes we get in a box in the US, which I thought was the best thing in the world as a kid. Nowadays, it doesn't excite me as much...so I found it average. Next time I'll try their fried bananas. I think Peggotty's are experts at fried food, so this has to be good.
Despite the gynormous portions we had I somehow didn't leave feeling terribly full. You should've seen what we ate! And the bill was very reasonable considering the amount of food we ate - about 50 euro for three of us, which included three full meals, soft drinks, a dessert and coffee.
The only disappointment I had at Peggottys Marbella was when I couldn't replace my chips with onion rings. I would've paid the difference, but I was refused even this option. Still, overall, we had a good experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for comfort food in a casual friendly atmosphere. I don't know much about fish and chip places in Marbella, but there aren't many out there. If you want to stay closer to Marbella, I would recommend La Fishita. Grade: 8.0Dad's evaluation: Peggotty's is the essential English place. I visited the restaurant in El Pilar, Estepona. The setting is similar to an American diner (but without booths). It has an outdoor patio. The portions are huge, the food authentic, and the prices reasonable for the quantity of food. As an indication, a large plate of cod and chips costs 11.50 euros. If you have a craving for fish and chips, fried chicken or mushy peas, this is definetely the place. Grade: 8.5
