Palato Vinoteca Gastronomica
Some friends, whose judgement I rate, had found this eatery, and, urged us to try it. I must admit the unprepossessing front of Palato does not give any hint of what delights are within!
A pleasant and comfortable dining room and bar area seating about 30 with a further 20 covers on the pavement outside. Nicely lit and decorated, and with a chilled cabinet as you walk in, displaying the protein on offer.
My hosts, Anna & Jose, already have a restaurant in Madrid, and opened Palato in Marbella just four months ago, they welcomed us with a glass of Cava and a tuna tapas.
The manageable menu is divided into, some sharing dishes, 4 salads, a seafood Linguini's, a stir fry chicken Teriyaki, a fishy quartet, and eight meat dishes. We chose to share Steak Tartare that was expertly prepared ’to out taste’ at the table by Sante, followed by a Magret of Duck, and for me, a Sol Meniere. This latter had a variation of the traditional butter sauce, more a Burre Manie (thickend with flour) but none the less delicious.
Each and every dish was perfectly prepared, cooked, served on the correct temperature plates, Chilled for Tartare, and piping hot for the mains, and were truly delicious.
We finish with a Creme Brulé, accompanied with berries and coconut ice-cream, and that too was yummy.
I found the Martin Codax (white) an excellent recommendation from Jose to compliment the meal. Chef David is to be congratulated on his skill, and we are keen to return and try more of his creations.
