Help support animals in need by attending the PAD (Proteccion de Animales Domesticos) animal shelter Christmas fair on Saturday December 4, 2010 starting at 10:00am at Passion Studios in Mijas Costa.

Start your Christmas shopping early this year at this event where there will be plenty of stalls selling Christmas cards, the PAD 2011 calendar, books, jewelery, music, food and more.

For only 5 euros, you can participate in a tombola and Christmas raffle offering prizes such as a Nintendo Wii game console. Draw will take place on January 30, 2011.


What is PAD?

The Kennels and Cattery PAD (Proteccion de Animales Domesticos) was founded in 1996 with the objective of sheltering and then finding new homes for abandoned dogs and cats. In 2 years sufficient funds had been raised to build a shelter on rented land. The shelter had space for 12 dogs and 10 cats.

In the first two years nearly 500 animals were adopted but the shelter was now housing many more animals than it was designed for. Early in 2001, a piece of land with a partly built house next to the shelter became available and PAD bought it with the generous help of Sally F.

The next 12 months were spent clearing the land and finishing the building which used up our remaining funds. Then along came a second fairy godmother, Carmen de Vigny, who offered the funds to build a new cat shelter. Carmen officially opened the new shelter on the 1st September, 2002. We are now housing over 200 feline guests!

The P.A.D Fair has been given a re-vamp this year with a new format and new ideas. Visit us from 11:00am - 3:00pm on Sunday May 8, 2011.

PAD animal shelter charity day

Don´t miss the charity event in aid of the PAD animal shelter (Proteccion De Animales Domesticos) on Sunday October 30, 2011 from 11:00am - 3:00pm. The event will be held at the Nordic Centre, Carretera de Mijas - Fuengirola.

This is a great day out for the whole family with games for the kids, exciting new stalls selling local arts and crafts and don´t forget George´s famous emporium.

The Centro Nordico is at the bottom of the main road that connects Mijas to Fuengirola on the left hand side as you go up next to the Peugot garage.
