Olivia's
The much anticipated Olivia’s opened some 7 months ago and we have finally got around to eating there. It has been created by Elliott Wright, who has taken the much loved Mijas Playa restaurant by the scruff of its neck and turned it into a fabulous place for fine dining, with beauty, comfort, and elegance to please all the senses, this must rank as one of the most opulent, beach-side local eating houses, not only from the overall visual aspect of the décor and vista, but for everything else down to the place settings and the atmosphere of bon-ami that is pervaded by all the management and the well trained staff. On the first floor is a Sky lounge-bar, another beautifully appointed room with a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. The whole thing is just faultless.
But what about the food? We were there for the 3 course Sunday lunch menu that had options of 4 starters, 6 mains, and 5 desserts, from which we chose Langoustine cocktail with a lime and dill Marie Rose sauce, and Tempura Prawns with a chilly dipping sauce for our starters, and for mains we both had to try their Roast Rump of Beef with all the trimmings. I must say that a good 28 day hung Rib of Beef takes a lot of beating, and although the rump was pleasant enough, it fell short of the perfection that all the other dishes displayed. The limitations of the Sunday lunch menu did not give us the opportunity to explore the a la’ cart dinner menu, which looks so interesting, that we are planning a return visit SOON. It was good to see that although Elliott was not there, his fiancée, Sadie, and both his Father and uncle were all very much ‘hands on’
