our meal at Oak
Great to see Gary Wait along with Teresa and Scott, his long time associates involved in this prestigious enterprise of the La Sala group, set up just the other side of the road from their flag ship restaurant. Oak Garden & Grill is built around a magnificent Oak Tree in the centre with a series of roofless pergolas forming the principle dining area that has about 90 covers, comfortable seating , nice table settings, and having views of La Concha to the north and Puerto Banus to the south, all together a very pleasant environment to be in.
The principle protein here is Beef, with some quite exotic examples such as 1.8 kg. of Irish Tomahawk Ribeye for sharing by up to 5 or 6 people for 95€ - both Fillet and Sirloin from an American Black Angus for 30-50€ - 1.2kg.of a 28 day matured Galician Rib for sharing 110€ - and at the other end of the spectrum a Char grilled Spanish Fillet or Sirloin from 21.50- 34.50€ -. and finally 200g of the famous Wagyu Sirloin for a little over 95€. There are alternatives of Chicken, Lamb and Pork as well as other beef dishes and even a humble Fillet steak Berger, and they all come with Jacket potatoes or chips.
You can select from 16 side orders to complete your mains. With alternatives of Lobster and Crab available, plus a choice of 15 reasonable priced starters and a trio of desserts completing the menu, with the exception of a ‘fine dining experience’ of a 3 course menu for 4 people including a shell fish platter, 30g of Mallosol Caviar (which alone costs 245€), Champagne, and an excellent wine to go with the 2kg. of Tomahawk Steak for a total of 1000€.
Three of our party chose the Chicken Liver Parfait and one the Lobster Bisque, all 4 of us had the Chateaubriand with Crispy Onion Rings, grilled Cherry Tomatoes, Mushrooms plus Béarnaise and Pepper sauces, and a side dish of chips. We were all delighted with the meal, which was of such a size that none of us could face desserts! As one might expect for an opening night there were a few hiccups, but nothing that wasn't quickly righted by the attentive staff. I understand that they are fully booked for the next few days, so booking is essential. (Central reservations so make it clear where you want to book for.
