Market stalls

Hi,

Can anyone give me any advise as to how to go about obtaining a market stall, which markets are the best and how much a stall is?

I am moving to San Pedro in 2 weeks and wanting to set up a stall selling handmade gifts.

Any advise, tips or information would be greatfully appreciated,
Thank you
Lauren

You can find more information about Costa del Sol street markets and when they are held in our
La Virginia often holds a spring street market, so you may be interested in this one too.

Street markets Costa del Sol

Below is number for Antonio, organiser one off markets at Torreguadiaro, San Roque, Manilva promenade summertime, Ronda, Algeciras and Christmas Fairs at LOS BARRIOS etc past Sotogrande

ANTONIO - MERCADOS DE EPOCA
Necesitamos todo tus dato y Actividad mandar por E-mail: antoniorm71@hotmail.es o por fax 956 621432 y le informaremos de todos los eventos. Antonio 629478739

Email him your mobile and he will text every event all over the region as it comes up - On midsummer night - San Juan - he organises an all night market til 2 am

SABINILLAS was the busiest casual SUNDAY market going West or FUENGIROLA going East of San Pedro with no need for official registration, turn up early am and pay approx €8 per pitch.

Visit each first to gauge popularity for your wares and get latest lowdown for set up rules.

Diana Park on Saturdays by Corner Cafe.

For weekly official street markets organised by Town Hall (Ayuntamiento) vendors have to be Self Employed at €260 approx per month which covers Social Security medical entitlement. No casual traders.

For Christmas Gift Fairs check out the PALACIO DE CONGRESOS, MARBELLA for the organisations or charities which hold their events there and book direct with each.

The Marbella village of LA VIRGINIE has held popular outdoor Christmas Fair around the winding streets. For many years organised by two ladies. Great atmosphere. Check local press or Google to see if this still runs.

Another two ladies organise a popular SUNDAY flea market at EL PALO promenade, East side Màlaga - similar to Portobello Market in London. ( see El Palo sign from N340 motorway after airport)

Pitches are €30 so the profit margin needs to cover this. Antique dealers would have no problem or those making bespoke craft items to order.

Google old market site LOS BAÑOS DE CARMEN - to find organisers telephone contact at the new site.

My advice would be to first visit all the local markets you find in local magazines

1. Does your product fit

2. Are there more vendors than buyers.

3. chat to stall holders for how to book, what time set up and most importantly WHERE the latest new markets are going to be, and are they advertised effectively for a turn out.

Average stall is €5 to €8

You will find your favourite atmosphere and which are worth the journey/petrol.

Hope this helps

RE Market Stalls
by: Anonymous

You would need to go to the local town hall to obtain a permit sometimes there is a waiting list for stall spaces depending on the town and market most second hand rastros and carboots you just arrive early to get your space but normal established markets you would need to go through the procedures .

Good Luck .

Holding a stall in the street market
by: Christina

Best thing to do is to go to one of the markets and ask one of the people who already have a stall. I know that there is a inspector at every who also would give you all the information you need. Ask the Police to locate him. Good luck
