The Marbella Design Academy was founded in 1995 and has, after 20 years of experience, developed into the modern, excellent Academy it is today.

9.000 Euros per academic year for the BA validated programme.
1.000 Euros per academic year quality assurance fee to Middlesex University.

The Marbella Design Academy aims to develop all the necessary skills needed for you to solve the wide variety of real-life design challenges that are faced by professional designers today.

The Academy's aims are to support and develop individual creativity and nurture artistic skills. It also seeks to prepare the students for the increasing demands of the market with respect to quality of presentation, ergonomics, style, aesthetics and psychology relating to the design environment.

The Atmosphere
The Marbella Design Academy is an exclusive design school with a family-like atmosphere among students and staff who originate from around the world.

The maximum number of places available is 230, so students receive a great deal of personal attention and one-to-one tuition from their teachers.
The Marbella Design Academy is constantly expanding and improving its curriculum to the latest market demands. The atmosphere is energetic, creative and inspiring. The school encourages its students to collaborate and experiment with their designs, in either smaller groups or with one-to-one tuition sessions with their tutor. Although the work is intensive, everybody collaborates in a casual, warm and informal atmosphere.

The Academy Building
The Marbella Design Academy building was completed in August 2008. It was designed entirely by the Founder, Helle Byrn, and meets all of the stringent demands and requirements of a modern design academy. The Ministry of Education in Spain has approved the building, so every facility imaginable is catered for.

All tutors are professionals within their respective fields; architects, graphic designers, interior architects, furniture designers, fashion designers, photographers, web designers, product designers, artists and many more all have an academic background and are active designers and professionals, which ensures practical experience as well as high academic quality.

Apart from the permanent staff, the Academy also invites guest artists and specialist designers to lecture on a regular basis.

The Marbella Design Academy validated programmes are constantly updated according to latest market demands of a professional design education. You will, for example, from your very first year of study be immediately introduced to professional software applications that are vital to becoming a successful designer.

Language of Instruction is in English
All classes are held in English. They are also held in small groups, thus allowing plenty of teacher-student interaction. This provides the opportunity for frequent one-to-one tuition, a significant factor contributing to the excellent academic results our students are able to achieve.

International
Students from around the globe study at Marbella Design Academy. Originating from over 40 different countries, all of our students find great inspiration when studying alongside others of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. The students inspire each other through working on their design projects in an international cross-cultural atmosphere.

The Village of Monda
Marbella Design Academy is located in Monda, just a short walk from the center of the village. Monda is a charming, typically Spanish village, which is only 15 kilometers from Marbella. 80% of students live in Monda which has given the village a university campus atmosphere.

Transportation
There is a local bus service that runs to and from Marbella, Málaga and connects to other nearby cities, towns and villages.

Marbella Design Academy has won the Costa del Sol Business Award for being the best integrated foreign institution in Andalucía.

Entry requirements
The minimum application age is 17 years old. Students at the college are between 17 and 40 years of age, the average age being around 23 years old. Entrance requires a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. However, an exception to this rule may be made if a student has completed Marbella Design Academy’s Foundation Course. The Foundation Course runs for 12 weeks, 3 times per year, and starts in March, June and/or September.

Grants
As the Marbella Design Academy institution is state-recognised and the BA (Hons) degrees awarded by Middlesex University London are state-recognised in the UK, some students will be able to obtain grants from their home countries in order to study at our Academy, please check with your own home country student loan-grants department.

Jobs
Some of our students take on jobs, after study hours, in the Marbella area. In fact, many companies contact the college with job offers for our 2nd year, 3rd year and graduate students.
