The Marbella City Council has suspended all the events scheduled for the celebration of the Carnival 2017 in the municipality for the Sunday morning Sunday, February 26, and next Monday, February 27 to mourn the death of Marbelli Pablo Ráez Martínez.
According to the official Marbella Town Hall website, the City Council of Marbella has decreed two days of mourning - Sunday February 26, 2017 and Monday February 27, 2017 due to the death of the young marbellí Pablo Ráez. During these days the flags of the Town Hall will wave at half-mast. Also, in a sign of mourning, the delivery of Medals of the City scheduled for next Tuesday, February 28, Day of Andalusia, in which one of the distinctions was to be delivered to Raez, is suspended. The award, will be delivered posthumously.
At the age of 18, Pablo Raez Martinez local athlete, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in March 2015. Since then he underwent two bone marrow transplants and has since become symbol of strength in adversity and public figure to increase awareness for the need of blood and marrow donations. Through social media and other media outlets Raez helped to increase marrow donations in Malaga by 1,300%. Malaga received 11,201 new donations in 2016.
With his #SiempreFuerte phrase and strong arm emojie, Raez reminded us that one person can make a huge difference. His bravery courage and relentless positive attitude have and will help support countless cancer sufferers locally and worldwide.
Born in Marbella in 1996, Raez attended
La Latina, and studied TECO in Medac, School of Sport and Heath. His funeral will be held in Marbella on Sunday February 27, 2017 at the Church of the Incarnation in Marbella.
