We watched with much interest during the late spring, as we walked past what was a derelict restaurant in the centre of the San Pedro Paseo Maritimo, as major reconstruction work was taking place, which on our return to the Costa from our Summer UK sojourn we discover has become L’unique World. This is a stylish conception, beautifully furnished with about 80 covers, half of which are alfresco, and has access from both the Paseo and Avda.Carlos Cano, the road behind the Paseo.
The sensibly organized menu has five option for each of: Salads, Pastas, Pizzas, Risotto & rice, fish & meat mains, with a quartet of starters and a trio of ‘Mediterranean Exotic Dishes. Our party of four chose to share starters of L’unique salad of Goats cheese, cherry tomatoes, apple with a vinaigrette dressing and honey, and a rather thin Gazpacho, with mains of Grilled Prawns and baby squid, L’unique fish dish of mounkfish with all manner of shellfish In a gorgeous sauce but rather too salty, Chicken breast with Thai vegetables and fries, and a Beef Entrecote. All were Generous in size, delightful in taste, but sadly served on cold plates.
Without going into details, suffice to say that some schooling is needed to bring the service up to scratch. Having said that, after being open for just 2 months, I believe that that father and son team of Norberto and Cheyenne, the owner and maitra’D will sort out the few niggles that are there. This eatery has a lot going for it, an idyllic position, comfortable environment, Mark the talented Polish chef, and most importantly a desire to succeed It will be interesting to revisit later in the year.
The VS.
L’unique is roughly in the middle of the San Pedro Paseo Maritimo, and in Avda. Callos Cano. Where there is adequate street parking.
