My last review on Marabierta in October 2017 was less then complimentary as what had been hitherto a very professional operation, slipped into poor service and food that was not up to the high standards previously set by them. Then my Sister and brother in law reported back that they had just had a superb meal with excellent service. So valuing there opinion we lunch there to see if they had ‘pulled their socks up’
Chef Jose Antonio was still at the helm in the kitchen but with a new maitra’D and not one waiter that I recognised it seemed to be a new beginning. It really was a full house of about 100 diners and there was sufficient staff to cope with that. There is no point in reiterating the details and quality of this eating house, or the temptations that lay in the menu, which has some changes
For the better.
5 of the 6 of us enjoyed our meal and could not find fault, but the veal escalope main course for one of our party was pronounced ‘Chewy’ With an average meal price without drinks of 25€ considering the ambience this represent good value. To a great extent, owner Michael and his staff have redeemed themselves, so ‘yes’, we will return.
The VS: Marabierta can be found at the junction of Avda. de la Coruna and C/ Alvares Quintero, about 50 metres west of the Ballerina statue on the Paseo Maritima. Street parking. They open for lunch and dinner every day. Average 3 course meal with wine 30€ No Menu del Dia. All parts of the restaurant are wheelchair accessible including a dedicated toilet facility. no email address or website yet.
