What is an abdominoplasty ?

How is it carried out?

This surgery takes between one and two hours. It is perfomed under general anaesthetic, and can involve up to 4 surgical procedures :

1- Liposuction : Enables surgeons to eliminate fat, or part of it, from the abdominal area and sides of the body.

2- Detachment of the cutaneous and adipose tissues : The surgeon proceeds to detach these tissues in the top part of the abdomen in order to be able to pull the skin tightly and finalise this reparatory surgery.

3- Correction of a possible diastasis: During this phase the surgeon corrects the abnormal separation of the abdominal muscles.

4- Elimination of any excess cutaneous tissues : This involves the removal of cutaneous tissues at the level of the umbilicus and pubis. This is the final stage of abdominoplasty surgery.
