Partof the dining room
A charming and comfortable dining room with about 50 covers, half of which are al fresco
has been made by that serial restaurateur Philippe Resiki, with authentic ‘cuisine a la France’ created by chef Dominique to such a high standard that I deem this eatery to be among the top ten that this writer has experienced during his 30 years dining on the costa del sol. The only thing missing was an accordion player in the corner and some sawdust on the floor to bring back memories of the Paris in the 50’s.
When we asked to see the menu, this came in the form of two blackboards listing the fare that is on offer, from which our party of four chose French Onion Soup and Pate de Foie Gras to start with and Duck Breast with Orange Sauce, John Dory with a Leek Fondue and Green pepper Sauce, and for me a Beouf Bourguignon. Without exception, every dish, (and I tried them all) were presented to the highest level of haute cuisine, with tastes, textures, depth of flavours and generosity in size that exceeded our expectations. My Boeuf was the best I could recall and refusing to waste a scrap I had to call for a doggy bag. The ebullient and vivacious Vanessa looked after front of house, and made our enjoyment for the evening complete.
Unfortunately our return to Le Discret will be delayed for some months as soon we return to the UK for our Summer sojourn, but on our return, we will be back.
