The new girl on the block is Magdalene, proprietor of Le Box, Nueva Andalusia, she opened this, her second eatery about 4 months ago. The original of the same name in Purto Banus is now in its 4th year, and she is hoping to repeat that success here.
The stylish Glass curtained forecourt seats about 60 covers, with a further 20 in the nicely decorated dining room
From an interesting menu our choice of starters were the Duck Rillette with Crostini and Bec Fin timbale (Smoked Salmon filled with horseradish sauce and smoked trout) but this was not available so I settled for the ‘B’ choice of Aubergine with a Feta Cheese salad. Both the Rillette (which is like a terrine, of compressed shredded meat preserved in its own fat) and the Aubergine were delicious.
Our Mains were Beef Tartare and a grilled prawn Salad. I normally only order a Tartare from a chef that I know, but fortunately this one lived up to my expectations, and we both very much enjoyed the presentation and tastes that this talented chef produced.
I was disappointed with the Tarte Tatin which was three caramelized wedges of apple on, what seemed like, a pizza base, and for which no charge was made!
