Does anyone have used items suitable for 10 yr old boy (uk size 11/12), + 13 yr old boy (uk size 15/16)
Does all uniform have to be purchased from Laude (how strict are they?) or can you buy white shirts/trousers/etc elsewhere? Any advice much appreciated.

Laude San Pedro - boys uniforms by: Caroline
It's very confusing, Zora... I believe, though, that the primary boys wear grey trousers and the secondary definitely have navy blue. Saying that, to complicate matters, the primary boys' summer uniform is blue shorts which most are wearing now. So, I am buying the uniform basics piecemeal, as I know it will all change again soon (I think half term?)!

boys trousers at Laude by: Zora
I thought of you today Caroline when I saw two boys standing next to their mothers who were trying to decide what was the official color for the boys trousers at Laude. One boy had gray and the other had navy blue. Both trousers had the Laude tag on them...so go figure. The child who had brand new trousers from this year had dark blue ones.
My daughter has a hand me down Laude official skirt, which is gray and she tells me all the other girls are dark blue. Hmmmm.
It seems as though last year Laude was offering gray and this year it´s dark blue. A bit frustrating on my part now, because my daughter feels "out of it".

Laude trousers by: Zora
The reason you see the gray trousers on the website is because before Laude the school was run under Kings College and we used the gray ones. When the school made the transition we were allowed to mix the uniforms for one year, because the school understood the complications and high cost. I think you´ll see from time to time some kids still go with the gray trousers, but it´s not very often. And I imagine at the start of the school year the staff will be more strict with the uniforms. They seem to get more lax towards the end of the year when no one wants to spend a fortune on items they aren´t likely to use again.
Wow, three boys! Yes, that can get costly. I would stick with navy trousers, whether or not you buy them at the shop. Maybe you could buy one pair at the shop and try to find similar ones somewhere else. If the blue isn´t far off, I can´t imagine the school would complain, or even notice.
I think the school shop is open in the mornings, but they only take orders and will pass out the uniforms on the first day of school or after. I know, it´s ridiculous, but this is what they did last year. So if your kids aren´t totally geared up for the first day, don´t worry, they won´t be the only one. Call the school and double check the hours.

Laude school uniforms by: Caroline
Thanks Zora. Very helpful advice . I agree regarding keeping cost down if poss; and balancing that with fitting in with everyone else. Having paid out on another school's uniforms only in January - it gets very expensive with 3 boys! Do you know anything about boys trousers in secondary. Says navy blue but looking at pics/video on website - seems that grey trousers are worn too?
The school website says the uniform shop is closed in August - do you know if this is correct.

Laude school uniforms by: Zora
I just left some uniforms at the lost and found at Laude that I just couldn´t get rid of anymore. You can go downstairs and take a look if there is anything left. Some of the stuff was raggedy, but there were some things that were still in very good condition.
My kids have been in Laude for the last six years and sometimes they are strict and sometimes not. So I can´t tell you for sure. For the major items like sweaters, shirts and skirts I stick to the Laude items. Almost all of the children wear them and your child might not be so comfortable if he isn´t like the rest of the crowd...especially if it´s their first year at the school.
For the socks and shoes I buy them outside of the school. And if we are near the end of the term I would not buy the school stuff knowing that my child might not fit into it next year. My daughter wore the sweater for secondary (although she was in primary) for the last month of school. She was told by a teacher that she couldn´t do this, but I was not ready to fork out the money for a brand new primary sweater for just the last four weeks, since she was entering secondary the next year. I never heard from the school again, but am sure they would understand my argument.
If you are unsure I would stick with the official uniform and see how it goes. One thing the school always tries to be strict with is to have all the children tidy with their shirts tucked in and ties tied appropriately. And no nail polish, jewelery or makeup for primary children. Not sure how strict they are about this in secondary yet.
