Yes I totally agree with the comments about getting an abandoned one, not from a pet shop/breeder. There are thousands of homeless kittens and adult cats just waiting for a loving home. Obviously a child wants a kitten but my personal opinion is, a kitten is totally different from getting a puppy with the idea that you can influence it's adult behaviour. With a puppy, yes you can do this but with a kitten, forget it, they VERY quickly become adult cats and many change personalities from a hyperactive bundle of fun that likes affection to an aloof cat that no longer has a desire to be stroked and held, I know because I have one :-) and children can become bored at that point. Whereas an adult cat is already displaying it's true personality and there are thousands of REALLY affectionate abandoned ones just waiting to shower you with kisses and purrs, I know because I also have one of those too :-) taken in as an adult cat, she is far more affectionate then the one I took in as a kitten. These are just my thoughts and whatever you decide it is fantastic to hear that an abonded cat/kitten is going to a loving home and an early happy birthday to your daughter from me x

I got our 2 from Aurora holistic vets in Estepona. They were 6 weeks old abandoned. I have to say they r the most adorable cats now..... 2 years old. They always have kittens wanting homes, as do most of the vets surgeries.
