The comfortable dining room
Open for just 6 month, my take on the cuisine of Gloton restaurant, is Avant Garde Fine Dining. Everything about this establishment oozes class, from the exterior where you can view the temperature controlled wine store that is set into the wall so as to be visible from both sides, to the décor, lighting and general comfort of the very restful dining room, to their choice of crockery and cutlery. Some of the walls appeared to be brickwork that was so perfect in its symmetry that I thought it was printed wall paper, but it was real.
Marbella United F.C.’s owner and chairman is Alexander Grinberg and he, with Pavel are Gloton’s owners. The Russian connection doesn’t end there, the menu and design of all the dishes were by chef Oleg Berezin, who allegedly was Putin’s chef, and lastly Anastasia was our knowledgeable and very helpful waitress.
I could go on and on, but what about the menu, food and service? Well there is an unusual thing about the groupings which have headings: To Start, To Continue, To Finnish, and Desserts and invariably the simplistic description of each dish falls short of the delight you are about to receive. We chose starters of Chicken Parfait with Caramelized Sugar and Marinated Cucumber, and a Chestnut Veloute with Confit Duck, with mains of slow cooked Pistachio and Herb coated Rack of Lamb and Cabbage Rolls stuffed with Venison in a Mushroom Sauce, and for desserts Coffee Been Cream Brulee and a Cheesecake with Blueberries, Raspberries, and Apricot Sauce. All as pretty as a picture (see photo’s) and in texture, taste, and presentation, chef Juan has produced dishes as near perfection as this writer could wish for.
