Exploring Tenerife as a Family
Tenerife and Marbella are two very popular, family-friendly,
sunshine vacation destinations . Both boast lots of activities for both kids and adults to take on, but which one should you go for? Here is a run through of what each one has to offer.
Tenerife:
Whale and dolphin watching
The family will love taking a boat trip out from Los Cristianos to spot pilot whales and dolphins. The enthusiasm of the boat's skipper and crew is infectious, and if you have a glass-bottomed boat, you can view many other sea creatures as you cruise along the coast. The boat trip also offers spectacular views of the cliffs of Tenerife which you would otherwise miss.
Loro Parque
At this theme park near Puerto de la Cruz, you can see parrots, gorillas and other jungle creatures, as well as penguins in an icy tunnel, and even Orcas in a huge sea water environment. Siam Park, near Costa Adeje, Is another exciting park to enjoy, with a fun water theme.
Megabowl
When it occasionally rains in the Canaries, families will love going to Megabowl at Costa Adeje. Here you can enjoy ten-pin bowling, food, drink and music by day or night, and kids can even host a birthday party.
Marbella:
Theme parks
If your kids are looking for thrills and spills, they will be spoiled for choice - Marbella has three theme parks, including Tivoli World in Benalmadena, that offer a variety of exciting water chutes and other rides.
Gibraltar
At Gibraltar, you can explore the natural beauty of
this magnificent rocky outcrop, which guards the narrow Strait at the entrance to the Mediterranean. The inhabitants include the famous apes, who roam freely, and in spring and autumn, it is a superb place from which to observe migratory birds making the passage from Africa to Europe.
Fuengirola Zoo
Fuengirola Zoo is an excellent day out for everyone, with a huge collection of animals and daily shows that should not be missed. There are several tasty restaurants on site, all of them child-friendly.
Selwo Safari Park
The family will love the experience of being on safari as they take a jeep ride through the 100 hectare park, where big game animals can be seen in a near-natural environment.
Tenerife or Marbella: whichever you choose to visit, both are brilliant for keeping the whole family active and happy.
