Tempura Strawberry Starter

Having eaten at another of the Momo restaurants in the past we were eagerly anticipating our visit to Momo on the Golden Mile, the re-branded Sutton restaurant. We were with friends from the Emerald Isle and were greeted by the Manager Martin, who turned out to be a compatriot of theirs. The first impressions of the softly lit and beautifully decorated interior was one of calm, perhaps because of the many Thai artifices dotted about with well-spaced tables, comfortable chairs, plus water and flame features, or the way that the room is divided into three areas, dining room and Bar-room that total 65 seats and a further 35 on the covered terrace, but for whatever reason It was a most pleasant atmosphere to dine in.

From the manageable menu, for our starters we chose the Tempura Tiger Prawns with a Strawberry salad and diced Mango in a Coriander & sweet chili sauce, and Goats Cheese with Spinach and Pears, Apples, and Nuts in a Cassis sauce. The mains consisted of Panfryed Fillet of Sea bass with Cauliflower Purée and Voloute ́ sauce – Teriyaki Chicken with sauté ́ wild Mushrooms – Slow cooked Lamb, sauté potatoes, and vegetables in a rosemary and mint sauce, accompanied by a pleasant Sauvignon Blanc. We rounded off the meal with desserts of Crépe, with Apple Puré and vanilla ice-cream – Marinated Strawberries with ice-cream presented on an imaginative volcano plate and what they have called a Tiramsuka that is a Tiramisu with an ice-cream core.

The service by Ingrid Pat & Fran was exemplary and the smiling faces of all four of us after consuming what must be one of the most beautiful meals we have eaten this year. With twelve clean plates and four very happy diners – that says it all. This is one menu that I want to work my way through. So, the answer is YES to the question “Will we return”, - and very soon at that!

The VS
Momo can be found on the Golden Mile on the beach side of the N340 (Bulivar Pricepe Alfonso von Hohenlone No. 30) half way between the Agla petrol station Roundabout and the Lidl supermarket, approach from the West. and take the service road exit off the round about with the restaurant being approximately 200 m. on right. Street parking. They open for dinners only every day and anticipate opening for Sunday Lunch sometime soon. Average price of a three-course meal with wine 50€. There is a ‘Kids’ menu, and an ‘early-bird’ menu. The menu prices are ex IVA but no mention of this on the menu!!
