Hello, I am a UK qualified Early years teacher with 11 years’ experience.

I am available to teach Foundation Stage or KS1 children full time or FS, KS1 and KS2 on a Supply basis. I am also available to tutor English (phonics and early reading skills) and early maths skills too.

I have taught most recently in an International Private school where most of the children in my class and their parents spoke English as an additional language with varying degrees of proficiency. It was therefore extremely rewarding to see the progress that the children had made by the end of the year.

The reluctant readers and writers became much more confident and the more able children excelled. I also offered individual tutoring lessons to those who needed additional support including twins who spoke no English when they joined my class in the spring term and were able to read and write simple sentences by the end of the year.

Supply teaching allowed me to experience a wide variety of schools and age groups. I demonstrated a vast amount of flexibility as I was often faced with unexpected circumstances requiring me to think on my feet, make a number of quick decisions and regularly produce entire lessons off the cuff. I strove to deliver all lessons to a high standard no matter what I encountered. I proved that I was able to adapt to new roles and I made a point of ‘adopting’ each class as my own even if it was just for one day.

I am passionate about teaching phonics and developing children's early reading skills. I have extensive experience using the Letters and Sounds programme, Jolly Phonics and Read, Write Inc. I make learning fun by playing games and tailoring the lessons to the children's interests and needs and enjoy helping children who need additional support with their learning on a 1:1 basis and seeing them succeed!
