* Three Kings Day Three Kings Day is celebrated throughout Spain on Sunday December 6th. This holiday celebrates the visit of the Three Kings to worship and bring gifts to the new-born Jesus Christ. In Spain, it has traditionally be the most important day that culminates the ¨Christmas¨ holidays. The Three Kings are celebrated pretty much like Christmas´ Santa Claus. Children write a letter to the Kings asking for their desired toys. Many cities set up locations where the kids can deposit their letter to the ¨Royal mailman¨. Click here to read more… TIP: Three Kings Day is a national holiday in Spain, so shops and businesses will be closed. Get any food shopping you need the day or two before. Because this holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday December 7th is also a “bridge” holiday too. * Three Kings Day Parade Three Kings Day is always celebrated with a parade through the streets of Marbella and San Pedro on January 5th. Don’t miss this event, because the highlight is the moment the floats pass and candy is tossed in the air to be collected by eagerly waiting children. * El Niño lottery El Niño, literally meaning the little one, is a slightly smaller draw celebrated on January 6th, the Three Kings Day. It represents a second chance for people missing out on El Gordo, and will occupy most TV channel broadcast during the midday draw. Click here to read more… * Tweet Marbella TweetMarbella January is on Wednesday 9th January from 19:30 at 5th Avenue, Nueva Andalucia (next to Iceland). TweetMarbella is an FREE, informal, social networking event that is OPEN TO EVERYONE so please invite your friends and colleagues. * Marbella street markets No trip to Marbella is complete without a visit to the Marbella or San Pedro street market. The Marbella street market is held on Saturday mornings and the San Pedro street market is held on Thursday mornings. Both street markets start at around 9:00am and wrap up around 2:00pm, so everyone can go and have lunch.
* Kids holiday park The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in Marbella is holding a fun kids indoor park with plenty of attractions and entertainment including bouncy castles, sumo, gladiator, rock climbing wall, zip line, bici-cart circuit, video games, workshops, multi-adventure circuit and much more. The park remains open until January 5th, Entrance: 8 euro (full day), 6.50 euro (half day) or 14-day pass for 25 euro. Click here to read more…
* Visit from the Royal Mailman December 26 - January 5: Royal Mailman to the Three Wise Men visit. Three Kings Day is a big deal here in Spain. If your children would like to participate in this fun holiday, they can visit the Royal Mailman to the Three Kings who welcomes all children with their holiday wish lists at Parque de la Alameda. Visiting hours: Mornings: 11:00am - 1:30pm Afternoons: 6:00pm to 8:30pm December 31 - January 5 – 11:00am - 1:30pm Don't forget to write your name and address in your letters to the Three Kings so that they can send you a letter back.
