* The Dolphin Safari

The weather has been amazing lately, so it's a good time to get out to Gibraltar and visit the dolphins with The Dolphin Safari tours. We had a lovely time with our family visiting Gib, enjoyed a nice lunch outdoors and topped it all off with a boat ride to see the dolphins in the Strait of Gibraltar. You get excellent views and photos of The Rock as well. This is a trip you can't miss while visiting the Costa del Sol. We were blown away by the number of dolphins we saw. * Semana Blanca holiday

The kids are off on holiday next week, so you will want to keep them busy with camps, play dates, and other activities if you are in town. One of my suggestions is to take a hike through the mountains. We had a lovely walk yesterday in the Aloha area (Nueva Andalucia) with a nice group of our Marbella Family Fun readers. If you would like to know more about where the trail starts, just send us a message to marbellafamilyfun@gmail.com . We will surely organize another group one day to show you the “other face” of Marbella, so watch this space.

Read on to find out what is Semana Blanca anyway. Click here to read more…

* Moving to the Costa del Sol

One of our readers is considering moving to Spain and asks “We are looking into a permanent move to the Costa Del Sol, probably the Estepona/San Pedro area. Our children are both under the age of 5 and we feel now would be a good time to move before their schooling starts.

Our main reason for leaving the UK is the hope of providing our children a better quality of life, definitely a more outside life. Although we try not to look more than 5 years into the future, have a business in the UK so there are many factors to consider.

For those who have made the move:
Are you happy with your decision?
Do you find the quality of life to be better?
Safer than the UK?
Do you feel it is a good place for teenagers? I think this is my main concern, I know our children at this age will just love it.
Have you found it easy to meet new people?

Any information you can provide, good or bad to help us make our final decision would be greatly received. Many thanks Marie

We have answered all these questions ourselves, but this is just one opinon. We would love to hear why some of you have made the move and what you think of the Costa del Sol lifestyle. If you are also considering moving out here, then you will want to read the comments we have received and ask more questions if you like. Click here to read more…

* Activities for teens in Marbella

One of our readers asks, “We're going to Marbella in mid March. My oldest daughter and her boyfriend are 18 and we are comfortable with them going to clubs. Do you recommend any?

My younger daughter is 15 and is bringing a 16 year old friend with her. We live in a small town in the US where kids go to school dances, but not clubs. I am nervous about them going to clubs unless they're known to be safe for teens who are somewhat naive about clubs. Do you have any recommendations for them? They both ride horses and I am also interested in finding them a place to take lessons or ride on the beach in Spain. ”

We love to hear what you think about teenage life in Marbella, so please feel free to comment and answer this question. This “in between” stage is always a very difficult time with hormones flying all about and trying to find the balance between giving a bit of independence, yet not too much. Join in this discussion! Swedish consulate can't do it because only one of us is Swedish. Apparently we can ask the townhall but they don't send anyone out to the location where you perform your marriage and we really prefer someone to perform in English anyway as our guest are mainly English Speaking. Any ideas??? ”

* Babysitter available in Marbella
