* International School Estepona summer program International School Estepona is holding a fun summer camp this year for kids aged 3 to 10 from Monday 2nd July to Friday 27th July. This is an incredible opportunity to see one of the best festivals in oriental dance in Andalucia. Click here to read more… * Marbella Fair – Feria de San Bernabe The Marbella Fair starts this Sunday with a couple of “pre-feria” events. Fireworks to inaugurate the fair and free tastings of "churros con chocolate" at la Casa Hermandad Romeros de San Bernabé at 8:30am on Sunday June 3rd, followed by a parade and entertainment at Pinar de Nagüeles. There is also a mass, beach volleyball competition and fishing competition at various locations in the city, so check out the schedule of events to plan your week. The Feria de San Bernabe is celebrated until June 11th. This is an event that you just cannot miss. Loads of fun! Many of the shops in the port will be hosting their own events indoors as well as in the tents placed all along the main promenade. Restaurants will also be participating in the event with special dishes and menus dedicated to passersby. The day will also include a children’s Sports Day, bouncy castles, a junior golf putting competition, beachwear fashion show, Family of Sound music show, donkey rides, tarot reading, a Wildside Forest School workshop, cheerleading demo, Colmenar Craft stall plus a whole range of games and activities for the kids topped with live music from Costa Rock. Click here to read more… * June 11th holiday Just a reminder that Monday June 11th is a public holiday in Marbella due to the Marbella fair events. Shops, businesses and schools will be closed this day, so make sure you get your shopping and business done by Saturday (shops are closed on Sunday). TIP: This is a good day to go to the waterparks, such as Aqualand (Torremolinos), Bahia Aquapark (Algeciras) or Parque Aquatico (Mijas). The weather is good and the waterparks are located in areas outside of Marbella, so there there won't be any crowds nor lines. * The Queen’s Jubilee Galaxia Playcenter is celebrating the Queen's Jubilee Tuesday June 5th 5pm - 7pm. Free Entrance! Click here to read more… * Stay vigilant We had a post on our Facebook wall warning us of an unfortunate incident in La Cañada shopping center. The post snowballed into many other experiences of stolen cars and handbags in other shopping areas on the Costa del Sol. Someone even had their handbag stolen after someone bumped into their car intentionally. So beware and stay vigilant. These are hard times and people are getting desperate. Click here to read more (scroll down to Wednesday May 30)… * Diabetic camp for kids A friend was telling me about a camp that her diabetic daughter plans to attend this summer - DiabCamp. She will learn all about proper eating habits, how to inject her own insulin, basic care and get to hang out with other diabetic children. It is the first I have heard of such a camp and there may be some of you out there who are interested. There are several diabetic camps located all throughout Spain and all are conducted in Spanish. Click here to read more… * Flamenco fusion show San Pedro de Alcantara will be hosting a passionate evening of flamenco fusion with a show at the Municipal tent on the city fairgrounds where the San Pedro street market is usually held. The event starts at 9:30pm. Tickets are 12 euro (Advance purchased tickets) or 15 euro at the box office. Doors open at 8:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at El Corte Ingles. TIP: Kids under 3 enter free, however the show lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes. So get the babysitter for this one. * No Monday street market in Marbella The Monday street market usually held in Marbella (Las Albarizas in Marbella center) will be canceled on June 4 and 11 due to the Marbella fair which takes place on the same grounds during this time. Don't confuse this with the Puerto Banus street market, which remains open on Saturdays. The Monday Marbella street market returns to its normal operations on June 18. Click here to read more… TIP: Find more details about other street markets on the Costa del Sol. * Another little joke Here is another joke from a series that will tickle your ribs (in case you missed it on our Facebook wall): It was that time, during the Sunday morning service, for the children's sermon. All the children were invited to come forward. One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and, as she satdown, the minister leaned over and said, 'That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter Dress?' The little girl replied, directly into the minister's clip-on microphone, 'Yes, and my Mum says it's a bitch to iron.'
