What is the best way to go about getting an NIE number ? I am Canadian.

What is the avg. price?

Which police station is the best for getting your NIE number? ie. line ups, weeks on waiting for the number etc...

NIE application & advice

Unfortunately, it is not as easy as chosing which is the best police station. You must go to the police station that covers the address where you are to be registered at. If it is Marbella, you are lucky as it is, in my opinion the most efficient. I obtained a new NIE/residencia on Tuesday for a lady relocating from Dubai to Marbella in less than 1 hour.

NIE at Fuengirola police station

Have to say we found it very quick and painless getting our nie. We used fuengirola police station and if you go around 12.30 all the queues are gone. Also helps if there is a reason why you need it quick e.g. child starting school, new job etc.

Empadronamiento for Marbella

I needed it (an empadron) for my son to go to Spanish school. You get it at the town hall, I can't remember how much it was but not much. Some places ask it but if you aren't planning on working or using the schools I wouldn't worry about it.

I haven't been asked for it for work but was told it may be a possibility. Don't get it now, if you are asked it's a matter of going into the town hall in Elviria and getting it. It took us just over an hour but if you decide to get it ring and ask them what you should bring with you, you need your nie first, rental contract etc. Don't worry about it now!

Get NIE and empadronamiento in Marbella

We live in Marbella, so go to the Marbella police station. The first year we were here, my husband went in the line at 5am and called me with the kids before we were to go in. I remember him calling at about 9:00 or 10:00am, so it was a long wait. The next time we hired an agent to stand in line for me and call me just before the interview.

Getting your NIE number in Marbella

I got mine in Marbella also using an agent as my Spanish is basic. I paid someone, her company is Casa Coin, she was great. She done all the queuing and talking, couldn't have done it without her.

I only rent at the minute but was able to use my rental address for both residencia and the empadron. It doesn't need to be an owned property.

As for the 10 euros, you have to go to the bank to pay it, not in the station. All police stations are the same when it comes to waiting but if you live in Elviria you will have to register in Marbella, other stations won't accept you. Get there early if you can, my agent went at 7am and we met her after 10am then still had to wait. It's a long process but one we have to do. Good luck!

Marbella police station. my advice would be to find someone who can speak fluent spanish and pay them to help you :-)

they dont offer any help at all if you dont speak spanish :-(
